Ruv Nemiro was born in 1937 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, he studied at the School of Art Uzbekistan from 1952-57 completing a post graduate degree at Leningrad in 1961.
Picasso was most curious about this renowned Soviet Union sculptor and had personally requested to meet with Nemiro. Subsquently Nemiro painted a portrait and gave a sculpture to Picasso. In 1976 he worked with British Sculptor Henry Moore in London. He is the recipient of a number of prizes and major public commissions in Europe and was a Professor at the St. Petersburg fine art academy for 8 years. Ruv lead an enviable life; his clients predominately being royalty and political leaders.
Ruv’s sculptures were highly regarded and he was commissioned to build sculptures of up to 50 meters in height for palaces and public squares. His artist acquaintances were the likes of Marc Chagall and he was honored with numerous awards.
