FLORENCE STATEMENT:

” The art movements which have influenced me the most are medieval art, the surrealism ,the
impressionism, post impressionism . The artist which have influenced me the most are ,medieval artists,
Artemisia Gentileschi, El Greco, Sandro Botticelli ,Pablo Picasso, Amadeo Modigliani, Henri Matisse,
Paul Gauguin, Vincent van gogh, Odilon Redon, Marc Chagal, Gustave Moreau, Frida de Kahlo, Leonora
Carrington, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Paul Klee, Gustave Klimt .
I use vivid and bold colors. My recent works are in acrylic. I like to use this medium as it dries quickly. My
painting technique has thin layers of paint then in some areas I apply thicker layers of paint. Some parts
of the painting has speckled effect, brush stokes can be seen while other parts of the painting can be
smooth, I apply bold flat colors on some parts of the canvas.
Nature and people inspire my work. My figures are stylized they are often in a landscape or an interior. I
like to explore the unconscious and dreams. Most of these paintings were inspired by the warmer
seasons, spring, summer, autumn. I usually sketch many drawings , then chose which drawing I will
paint.
When I paint I always listen to music. For these series of works I have been listening to early jazz,….
I spend most of my time by the sea which I find most inspiring.”
