A Panel of art experts will discuss the work of the Belgian artist, René Magritte and how he came to influence contemporary art, film, culture, advertising and imagery.

Tuesday 10 October, 6:30 – 7:30pm
Questions regarding Magritte’s aims, imagery, aesthetics, skill, sources, techniques, meanings and methods will be addressed.
This discussion coincides with the staging of the world-first exhibition ‘René Magritte: The Revealing Image – Photos and Films’ at the Latrobe Regional Gallery, which provides a stunning insight into the life, work and thinking of René Magritte, one of the world’s most important 20th Century artists.
This is an open discussion and the audience are invited to ask questions.
The panellists include:
Dr Pierre Van Osselaer, Honorary Consulate of the Kingdom of Belgium in Melbourne;
Dr Ken Wach, Associate Professor, former Principal Research Fellow and Head of the School of Creative Arts at The University of Melbourne
Dr Mark Themann, Director, Latrobe Regional Gallery;
