Uncomfortable Science – playing the chords of Amy Winehouse

November 22, 2017 @ 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Improvisational mavens Uncomfortable Science conduct a night of jazz infused groove interpreting the catalogue of Amy Winehouse at the Toff in Town. Supplying his band with the song’s chords alone, Uni Sci’s musical maestro Lachlan Mitchell (Jazz Party, Vulture Street Tape Gang) will conduct musicians armed with only a sharpie and whiteboard.

Joined by some of Melbourne’s hottest musicians including Barney McAll (Sia), Simon Mavin & Paul Bender (Haitus Kiayote) and Nick Martyn (Clairy Browne and the Bangin Rackettes) the band will take you on an interpretive trip through an unidentified Winehouse song. Songs will be revealed at the end, unless guessed first by savvy audience members and fans. To host the night, sassy Melbourne-based pop culture podcasters Angus Leslie (Sex on Toast) and Jean Lizza from ‘Quality Time with Jean & Angus Podcast’ will provide some hilarious insight into the world of improvised music as well as sparkling repartee throughout the night as they celebrate the music of this modern-day diva.

Co-presented with Melbourne Music Week, this event is brought to you by us and Hear Them Holler.
