MY ST KILDA ARTS TOURISM ACCOUNT
Amy Winehouse has described her musical evolution as moving from jazz, to soul, through to gospel, then motown and finally hip-hop. As part of the Amy Winehouse exhibition held at the Jewish Museum of Australia, we present a series of evenings that traverse Amy’s vast musical journey, digging a little deeper into the styles of music that informed her complex writing, composition, melody, and voice.
To celebrate Amy’s love of jazz and big band tunes, Melbourne’s very own jazz cats The Rookies, who have become stalwarts of the Fitzroy music scene, playing every Wednesday for two years at The Rooks Return, will kick off the exhibition’s Thursday nights series at the Museum. Playing originals, jazz standards as well as some of Amy’s repertoire, join The Rookies for a dance and a drink before heading on into the exhibition.
The Thursday night series is brought to you by the Jewish Museum of Australia and Hear Them Holler.
