THE MUSICAL BOX BRING GENESIS TO LIFE IN AUSTRALIA

“They’re not a tribute band, they have taken a period and are faithfully reproducing it in the same way that someone would do a theatrical production. The Musical Box play it better than we did!” – Phil Collins.

“I saw them in Bristol with my children so they could see what their father did back then. I was really impressed by the production quality and the attention to detail.” – Peter Gabriel

Licensed and supported by Genesis and Peter Gabriel, Montreal-based Genesis tribute The Musical Box recreates an iconic show featuring music from the prog pioneers’ 1973 album Selling England by the Pound.

For the first time in Australia, The Musical Box’s aural and visual spectacle will delight audiences with their original and replica costumes, props and lighting from the 1974 tour, bringing Genesis’ eccentric performances back to life again with giant sunflowers, bat wings, gladiators and double necked guitars.

Hailing from Montreal and taking their name from the track included in 1971 album Nursery Cryme, The Musical Box formed in 1993 with the purpose of commemorating the twentieth anniversary of Selling England By The Pound. Presenting music from 70s Genesis repertoire, their shows reproduce visuals and theatrical elements which gave Genesis’ performances their mystical and unique character.

Since their formation, The Musical Box have presented around 1000 concerts across the world to over one million spectators, from The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Olympia in Paris to the Bell Center in Montreal.

Selling England By the Pound is one of Genesis’ most lauded albums, voted into the top 10 prog albums of all time by Rolling Stone and is one of the most influential records of the 70s. The first of their charting releases here in Australia, the album cemented the reputation as the superstars of progressive rock.
