Shane Nicholson – MEMO Music Hall
March 4, 2018 @ 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Recent Golden Guitar winner Shane Nicholson brings his well-crafted country & roots music to Memo Music Hall this March for a Sunday sesh like no other!
A native of Brisbane, Australia, Shane began his career as lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for Pretty Violet Stain in the late 1990’s. After two EP’s and the debut album Parachutes and Gravity on Warner in 2000, Shane then moved onto a solo project that culminated in 2003’s It’s A Movie. Followed in 2006 by Faith and Science, both albums received wide critical acclaim and commercial success following extensive touring in both Australia and the USA.
In 2008, Shane and his then wife Kasey Chambers, released their first collaborative album, Rattlin’ Bones. The album debuted at #1, went on to achieve platinum sales, was awarded Best Country Album at the 2008 ARIA Awards, and scored five CMAA Golden Guitar Awards in 2009, plus two USA Americana nominations for Duo/Group of the Year and Song of the Year.
Later that year, Shane released the ARIA-nominated Familiar Ghosts album, before moving into production work, making albums for Catherine Britt, Beccy Cole, Angie Hart, The Quarry Mountain Dead Rats, Steve Grady and many others.
In 2011, Shane’s fourth solo album Bad Machines was released, scoring him 6 Golden Guitar nominations (ultimately winning Song of the Year), a Best Country Album ARIA nomination, and an APRA Song of the Year award for “Famous Last Words”.
Hell Breaks Loose was Nicholson’s first recording of original material since the breakdown of his marriage to Kasey Chambers, with whom he recorded two ARIA Award-winning alt-country duet albums, Rattlin’ Bones (2008) and Wreck & Ruin (2012).
