MY ST KILDA ARTS TOURISM ACCOUNT
‘IF BOOK OF MORMON AND AVENUE Q HAD A BABY IT WOULD BE HAND TO GOD’
The funniest and filthiest broadway show in years finally arrives in Australia.
Millions of people worldwide have gone crazy for this multiple tony award nominated play and now it’s Australia’s turn! In early 2018 it arrives at the Alex Theatre, St Kilda with an all star cast in a brand new Australian production.
Featuring Logie and Helpman Award winner Alison Whyte, multiple AFI and Logie award winner Gyton Grantley and Grant Piro, Vass Productions are thrilled to present the Australian premiere of Hand To God, the wickedly funny broadway smash hit. Nominated for 5 tony awards, and garnering ecstatic reviews, Hand To God is a wild, subversive, shocking and sidesplittingly funny black comedy that has made waves around the world.
In the tiny, conservative town of Cypress, Texas, the mild-mannered Jason is just trying to be a good boy. When he joins his mother Margery’s amateur puppetry group at the local church, Jason discovers a burgeoning talent for comedy. Finally, he’s found something he’s good at! However, Tyrone, his puppet, has other plans.
An irreverent, occasionally shocking, and perpetually hysterical romp to hell and back, Hand To God’s exploration of the ideas of faith, morality, and human nature will leave you sore with laughter.
Directed by Greenroom award winning director Gary Abrahams and presented by Alexandar Vass and Vass Productions, the team that brought you the brilliant broadway comedy Bad Jews, Hand To God is not to be missed. On for a strictly limited season at Alex Theatre St Kilda, from 22nd February 2018.
