Constructed Forest

We are delighted to be able to welcome Belinda Piggott’s wonderful creations to The Laneway Artspace for our Summer/Autumn 2018 Season. ‘Constructed Forest’ will feature Belinda’s unique, hand-crafted pieces of both towering and petite structures.

In Belinda’s words …

‘I have a lifelong passion and respect for nature and the natural environment reflected in the organic quality of my ceramic work that echoes natural forms, volume and patterns and textures.

The subject of my current series, Hi Rise, is the urban environment. Influenced by the formal qualities of the structures that surrounded my home in Hong Kong, and have since followed me back to Australia – high towers resting on small footprints. My constructions are twisted, slashed and cut to a point of near collapse. They take on the quality of a forest suggestive of an alternative future of the city where nature once again dominates.’
