The Alliance Française Classic Film Festival aims to showcase masterpieces of French cinema, highlighting an actor or director who has made an indelible contribution to France’s celebrated film industry.

The 2017 season will focus on the iconic Jean-Paul Belmondo, showcasing restored versions of 6 of his most renowned films from 1961 to 1974. Considered a key figure of the French New Wave, Belmondo’s career of almost 60 years has been internationally fêted through Awards such as the César, the Golden Lion and the Golden Camera, a Career Achievement Award at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, and an honorary Palme d’Or from the Cannes Film Festival. In recognition of his influence beyond the confines of cinema, Belmondo was also honoured with the National Order of the Legion of Honour in 2007 and the National Order of Merit in 2017.

Between thriller and drama, comedy and adventure, audiences will be invited to savour these films as they were meant to be experienced on the big screen.
