These photographs have been taken on my phone over the last 12 months both locally and further afield. Whilst using a phone camera can compromise on the resolution and depth, it allows for great spontaneity. The images here are moments I felt compelled to catch and record. I find myself particularly drawn to contrasts, lines, patterns, colour and light in both the urban and natural world. The exhibition is named Random Acts of Beauty in recognition of the often unwitnessed and spontaneous beauty around us.
This is my first exhibition. Whilst my formal training is not in the Arts, I have always enjoyed playing with various mediums of artistic expression. I am grateful for having grown up with my mother, a visual artist who shared her knowledge and aesthetic view of the world with her children, a gift of great value.
