ST KILDA ARTCRAWL’S CORE CREATIVE IDEA
St Kilda Art Crawl (SKAC Inc) is an innovative community arts initiative that has been established by local creatives to broadly promote the Arts Community of St Kilda, by presenting the St Kilda Art Crawl in St Kilda and in the greater City of Port Phillip (CoPP) regions, through facilitating artistic and cultural events. These events engage and align local artists with local businesses and spaces that will encourage community engagement and participation whilst supporting and promoting local artists, established galleries, cultural spaces, local traders and businesses.
St Kilda Arts Community (SKAC Inc) is working towards promoting the CoPP as an Arts and Cultural Precinct of Victoria and a tourist destination for international tourism and partnerships with other of the world’s great art crawls including Venice Art Crawl in Los Angeles California.
St Kilda Arts Community (SKAC Inc) will organize four seasonal major Arts events and 10 “SKAC Mixers” and other complementary fundraising and celebrational events shared through the various precincts.
ST KILDA ARTCRAWL’S GOALS
• To reinstate and establish CoPP as the Arts and Cultural precinct of Melbourne by fostering the development of the arts by highlighting its creative people and culture.
• Enriching, supporting and promoting the artists within the CoPP
• Delivering a diverse range of artistic and cultural events that build and connect an engaged local community
• Fostering links and establishing relationships between different members of the community that may not have had the opportunity to meet and more importantly work together.
St Kilda Art Crawl has a commitment to promote and market the arts, art events and artists of all nature with in St Kilda and the broader City of Port Phillip and enriching local Victorian, interstate and international arts, tourism and cross marketing by providing events and a marketing arm to complement the activities of current stakeholders.
St Kilda Arts Community Incorporated will be trading as St Kilda Art Crawl (SKAC Inc) and is a Not for Profit Association and is registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC).
The St Kilda Arts Crawl committee members have extensive experience in business management, arts administration, gallery management, art transportation, marketing, film and television production, publishing, event management, venue operation, distribution, as well as strategic and creative planning with multiplatform methodologies.
The goal of St Kilda Art Crawl is to share, inspire and promote collaboration within the entertainment and arts community through SKAC Mixer events, 4 art crawls during the year and special project events like SKAC Mixers and SKAC Meltdowns.
The St Kilda Art Crawl is designed to highlight, artists, street artists, sculptors, musicians, photographers, film makers, galleries, art installations, restaurants, venues and businesses in St Kilda and the Port Phillip area.
It creates an opportunity for local artists to display and sell their works or music to the public through St Kilda galleries as well as restaurants, bars, venues and similar type premises, four times a year. It is a wonderful way for artists to develop their profile and potential sales whilst building their contacts and Social Media marketing.
Galleries, venues and restaurants experience more sales and traffic and have the opportunity with commissions from art sales. They will also receive a 12-month listing in the St Kilda Art Crawl website. It is a mobile website with push notifications alerting people of venue position and specials as they get close.
St Kilda Art Crawl event occurs four times a year and is a path of events and exhibits where the public can begin a journey at any point and follow a St Kilda Art Crawl MAP, both a physical map and a website map with the route taking them on a walking path to restaurants, venues, galleries, artists in residence and other locations to see exhibitions, art displays, performance art and live music.
The St Kilda Art Crawl special projects are one off events that reflect a launch of an area or a large-scale project.
St Kilda Art Crawl provides advertising and promotional support through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Periscope as well as promotion websites and media.
